After some serious research I did buy the famous FTdx101, just for testing Yaesu’s new features. With the VC tune (BP filters) and the DNR im able to hear signal I could not hear with my IC-7610 or FT-2000d. DO NOT LEVEL UP THE DNR ABOVE NR1, IT’S GONNA SOUND LIKE A HOLLOW PIPE.
The receiver has the best specs of any out there. The noise blanker for me works like crap, TS870 is still better. The SSB transmitter offers enough ways to provide a good sounding audio, the EQ parametrics are a little basic. The RF/IF speech processor is superb, but be careful, it will distort if you push it too far. Great main tuning knob.
If there is a signal there, no matter the QRM or QRN, the roofing, notch, contour filters and digital noise reduction and any combination of each, these dual receivers will pull it out for your easy listening. Big beautiful TFT display with meters, scopes, filter graphics, and menus at your fingertips.
I rated this radio a 3 star, thats because of a bad NB and no EQ leveling for the receive section…thats why the Kenwood TS-990se is still the best.
